STUDIO
Design begins with interpretation.
Kahli Jayne Designs is a Brisbane-based Interior Design practice led by founder and Interior Designer Kahli Lynam.
Each project begins by understanding what is particular to the home — its architecture, setting, history, the people who live there and the things already worth keeping.
From there, professional judgement determines what belongs, what changes and how the many parts of an interior come together as one resolved whole.
Clients' homes shaped
OUR ETHOS
A way of working, not a prescribed aesthetic.
The finished interior may be the visible outcome, but much of the work lies in the judgement behind it — understanding relationships, responding to context, bringing different elements together and knowing when enough is enough.
Considered
Every decision sits in relationship to something else. Scale, proportion, materiality, function and visual balance are considered as part of the whole rather than in isolation.
Responsive
No house arrives with the same architecture, setting, history or people. Kahli Jayne Designs develops an individual response to those conditions rather than applying a predetermined aesthetic formula.
Collected
A home can hold contemporary pieces, custom work, art, objects and things already owned and loved. Individuality comes from how those elements are brought into relationship — not from accumulating more.
Restrained
Editing matters as much as adding. Clarity comes from knowing what strengthens the interior, what competes with it and what can be left out.

FOUNDER · INTERIOR DESIGNER
Kahli Lynam
Kahli founded Kahli Jayne Designs in 2019, bringing together a longstanding curiosity for physical interiors, furniture, objects, materiality and the different ways people make a home their own — but that field of reference began developing well before the practice itself.
At sixteen, a French-speaking school exchange in Switzerland gave Kahli an early experience of living within another culture and built environment, alongside formative travel through London, Paris and Milan. Travel has continued to shape a habit of observation since — not as the source of one prescribed European aesthetic, but as a way of noticing how architecture, interiors, furniture and daily life change from place to place.
Professionally, that curiosity has become an interest in what a particular home calls for — what should be preserved, what should be introduced, where contrast is useful and where restraint will produce the stronger result.
Her work moves comfortably between the physical interior and the objects within it, from spatial and material decisions to furniture, lighting, art and the details that ultimately determine how a home feels to inhabit.

OUR APPROACH
The value of professional design is not more choice. It is knowing which choices matter.
Interpret
Understand what matters
A successful response begins before selections are made. Kahli Jayne Designs considers the architecture, context, functional requirements, client priorities, existing pieces and broader character of the home to identify what the design needs to address.
Judge
Make decisions count
Professional judgement is applied to proportion, materiality, composition, compatibility and consequence — not simply to whether an individual selection is attractive in isolation.
Resolve
Edit + Integrate
Ideas are refined, competing elements removed and individual decisions brought into relationship until the interior reads as one coherent whole.
AN INFORMED EYE
A wider field of reference.
Kahli's perspective moves across interiors, materiality, furniture, lighting, makers, art and objects, supported by continuing engagement with Australian and international designers, suppliers, manufacturers and the wider design industry.
That breadth matters because the strongest response is rarely found within one catalogue, one supplier or one prevailing aesthetic. Exposure to different periods, places, makers and approaches expands available references — and the judgement required to determine what genuinely belongs in a particular home.
International design fairs and industry travel, from Copenhagen to London, Paris and Milan, form part of that continuing education. Their value lies not in reproducing trends seen elsewhere, but in developing a deeper understanding of materials, construction, proportion, provenance, new work and enduring references — and knowing when they are relevant.

NEW PROJECTS
A home worth resolving properly.
Kahli Jayne Designs works with a considered number of projects at any one time, allowing her to remain closely involved in the thinking, decisions and resolution of each.
